Promoting Youth Engagement and Artistic Excellence: Nehru Yuva Kendra Doda and NSS Unit of GDC Kishtwar Host ‘Yuva Utsav’

Nehru Yuva Kendra Doda, an esteemed organization under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, collaborated with the NSS Unit of Government Degree College Kishtwar to successfully organize a remarkable event called “Yuva Utsav.” This event, centered around the theme of “Panch Pran,” witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 200 young individuals from across the district. The Chief Guest of the event was Pooja Thakur, the DDC Chairperson, while Dr. Jyoti Parihar, the Principal of GDC Kishtwar, graced the occasion as the guest of honor.

The “Yuva Utsav” comprised of five exciting competitive events, namely the Young Artists Camp – Painting, Young Writers Contest – Poetry, Mobile Photography Contest, Declamation Contest, and Group Cultural Fest. The objective of these events was to provide a platform for youth to showcase their talents, creativity, and express their thoughts on the theme of “Panch Pran.”

The event commenced with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony, evoking a sense of auspiciousness and setting the tone for the festivities that followed. District Youth Officer, Khushal Gupta, delivered the welcome address, extending warm greetings to the esteemed guests, jury members, faculty, staff, and students from various educational institutions. Gupta emphasized the significance of “Panch Pran” and shed light on the purpose behind organizing such events. He informed the audience that Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, through its field offices, is organizing “Yuva Utsav” in all districts across the nation. Furthermore, he announced that the winners of each component of “Yuva Utsav” would qualify for the State Level Yuva Utsav, and eventually, the National Level Yuva Utsav.

Following the welcome address, several cultural teams enthralled the audience with their mesmerizing performances. Additionally, participants of the declamation contest eloquently expressed their thoughts on the theme “Panch Pran.”

In the conference hall, budding poets engrossed themselves in composing their verses, while the mobile photography contestants had a dedicated time of two hours to capture their best photographs.

Towards the end of the event, Smt. Pooja Thakur commended the diligent efforts of Nehru Yuva Kendra Doda in organizing such a grand event. She urged the youth to actively participate in similar programs, emphasizing the importance of their involvement in shaping the future. Thakur expressed her hope that Nehru Yuva Kendra would continue to organize such events in the future, providing young individuals with exceptional platforms for growth and self-expression.

Dr. Jyoti Parihar, the Principal of GDC Kishtwar, in her address, encouraged rural youth, in particular, to seize the opportunities provided by such platforms and actively engage in nation-building activities. The event was graced by the presence of other esteemed individuals, including Prof Umer Din Rather, Dr. Tariq Tamkeen, Prof Falak, Prof Swami Raj Chouhan, Prof Romana Akhter, Dr. Vijay Kumar, Mr. Gulab Saify (Cultural Officer, Kishtwar), and Mr. Sanjeev Sharma (Director, Sangam Welfare Academy). The program culminated with a grand prize distribution ceremony, where winners were awarded prizes and certificates in recognition of their remarkable achievements.
