District Election Office in Doda Conducts Training for ROs, AROs Ahead of Municipal Elections 2023

In preparation for the forthcoming Municipal Elections for Municipal Council Doda, Municipal Committee Bhaderwah, and Municipal Committee Thathri, the District Election Authority in Doda organized a comprehensive one-day training program for Returning Officers (ROs) and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs). The training took place today at the Conference Hall of the DC office complex.

Chaired by ADC Doda, Dr. Ravi Kumar Bharti, the day-long training session was led by State Level Master Trainers (SLMTs), Mohd Ashraf Wani (District Information Officer Doda), and Tariq Qazi (District Social Welfare Officer Doda). The training was well-attended by ROs, AROs, and other key election officials. Deputy District Election Officer Doda, Amresh Kotwal, and ENT Doda, Angrez Singh, facilitated the training session.

The training revolved around enlightening ROs and AROs about their pivotal roles and responsibilities in the electoral process. This encompassed topics such as election management, the nomination process, scrutiny of nomination papers, candidature withdrawal, Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) management, poll conduct, result tabulation, and adherence to the model code of conduct for the imminent Municipal Council Elections. SLMTs Mohd Ashraf Wani and Tariq Qazi offered a succinct presentation on the ‘ROs Handbook for Municipal Elections 2023,’ ‘Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Elections Act 2000,’ and ‘Jammu and Kashmir Municipal (Elections) Rules 2003.’

A dedicated question-and-answer session was integrated into the training to address any ambiguities regarding procedures and regulations essential to conducting transparent, free, and fair Municipal Elections in the district. ADC Doda, Dr. Ravi Kumar Bharti, accentuated the pivotal role of ROs and AROs. He urged them to proactively draft an action plan for the forthcoming elections and to acquaint themselves with vital information and the latest directives issued by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Jammu and Kashmir. This concerted effort, he stressed, would ensure the seamless execution of impartial and unbiased Municipal Elections.
