In a decisive operation, the Indian Army successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt by two militants in the Mandi sub-sector of Poonch District. The operation, carried out in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), resulted in the elimination of both militants.
The incident unfolded on the night of September 5th when the Indian Army detected the presence of two militants attempting to cross the Line of Control (LoC) and enter the Indian side. Swift action was initiated as the security forces moved to intercept the infiltrators.
According to an official statement issued by the Indian Army, the operation faced significant challenges due to the hostile terrain, dense jungle, and steep gradients that provided cover for the militants. The militants engaged in heavy gunfire with the security forces, intensifying the confrontation.
The firefight between the militants and the joint Indian Army and JKP operation team raged on for an extended period, extending into the following day. During the course of the operation, both militants were neutralized.
The statement further revealed that the body of one of the militants was recovered at the scene along with a cache of war-like stores. Efforts are currently underway to locate and recover the body of the second militant.
