A tense standoff between militants and government forces in the Gadole area of Kokernag, located in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, resulted in injuries to an Army officer and a Police officer on Wednesday.
According to reports, a joint operation involving the local Police and the Army was launched to conduct a cordon and search operation in Kokernag, as part of ongoing security operations in the region.
Quoting a senior police official news agency GNS reported that during the initial exchange of fire, an Army officer and a Police officer sustained gunshot wounds. Both injured personnel were swiftly evacuated to a nearby hospital for immediate medical treatment.

As the combined team of security forces cautiously approached the suspected location, militants concealed in the area opened fire, leading to a heated gunfight.
Confirming the exchange of gunfire, a senior police officer stated that the situation was evolving, with more details pending.
