In a continuing operation in the Uri Hathlanga area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, an unidentified militant has been reported killed in a fierce gunfight between security forces and militants. The encounter remains ongoing, with the identity of the slain militant yet to be confirmed.
Quoting official sources on the ongoing situation news agency Kashmir Scroll reported that the encounter had resulted in the death of one militant. However, critical details, including the identity of the militant, remain under investigation.
The operation was initiated following specific intelligence regarding the presence of militants in the area. A joint team comprising personnel from the Police, Army, and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation in response to this information.
As the joint security forces approached the suspected location, the militants in hiding opened fire, prompting a retaliatory response and subsequently leading to an intense encounter.
This incident occurs amidst another ongoing encounter in the Kokernag hills of Anantnag district, which has witnessed the unfortunate loss of four soldiers, including three from the army, and a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP).
