Brother Fatally Assaults Sibling in Doda’s Bhalessa During Family Dispute Over Grass

A tragic incident unfolded in the serene Sanwara area of Bhalessa in Doda district, as a family dispute over grass escalated into a fatal altercation. The deceased has been identified as Ishtyaq Ahmed Wani, a dedicated teacher, while the accused is his younger brother, Imtiyaz Ahmed, who serves as a Special Police Officer (SPO).

The incident came to light when the local authorities received information about the altercation. SHO Gandoh, Vikram Singh, confirmed the tragic events to The Chenab Times and stated, “Upon receiving the initial information, we swiftly responded and apprehended the accused.” Singh recounted that the confrontation between the two brothers began as a verbal dispute over grass, eventually spiraling into violence.

During the altercation, Imtiyaz Ahmed reportedly attacked his elder brother, Ishtyaq Ahmed, with a stick, resulting in a severe head injury. Ishtyaq Ahmed was promptly rushed to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) in Gandoh for immediate medical attention. However, despite the efforts of the medical personnel, his condition deteriorated during the journey to the Government Medical College (GMC) in Doda, and he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

BMO Gandoh, Dr Ganshyam, commented on the situation, stating, “The injured individual received immediate first aid at SDH Gandoh, and every effort was made to stabilize his condition. Regrettably, he could not survive the journey to GMC Doda.”

A case under relevant sections has been registered at PS Gandoh and investigation is going on.
