In a relentless pursuit to curb the menace of drug trafficking and consumption, the Kishtwar Police, under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khalil Poswal-JKPS, achieved a significant breakthrough. A special team, led by Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Parvaiz Ahmed Khanday, aided by Sub-Inspector Lal Hussain under the watchful eye of Deputy Superintendent of Police Dr. Ishan Gupta, apprehended a drug peddler in the Malipath area of Kishtwar.
The arrest was made during a meticulously executed checkpoint operation as part of the ongoing “Operation Sanjeevani.” The police team observed suspicious behavior from an individual attempting to evade the checkpoint’s scrutiny. Swift action led to the detainment of the suspect. Upon inspection, the police discovered a substance resembling cannabis in his possession, leading to his immediate custody.
The arrested individual has been identified as Muzafer Hussain, son of Mehraj Din Bagwan, residing near Om Mehta Road, Kishtwar.
In response to this incident, a case bearing FIR No. 236/2023 under Section 8/20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been officially lodged at the Kishtwar Police Station. An exhaustive investigation into the matter is currently underway.
