The Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kishtwar have successfully resolved the Zelna burglary case, which occurred on the night of September 23rd and 24th, 2023. This incident involved masked individuals forcibly entering a residence armed with rods, leading to the registration of Case FIR No. 226/2023 U/Sec. 3/25 I. A Act, 395/458/323/34/IPC at PS Kishtwar.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Dy. SP Hqrs Kishtwar, Dr. Ishan Gupta, and Insp Parvaiz Ahmed Khanday, SHO PS Kishtwar, was formed under the supervision of IC Addl. SP Kishtwar, at the direction of SSP Kishtwar, Khalil Poswal-JKPS.
During the course of the investigation, the SIT apprehended several suspects and successfully arrested the thieves involved in the burglary case. This resulted in the recovery of stolen items.
The primary suspect, Akshay Kumar, son of Raj Kumar and a resident of Sangrambata Kishtwar, confessed to his involvement in the crime while in custody of the SIT, according to a police statement issued via a handout obtained by The Chenab Times. His disclosure also led to the identification and subsequent arrest of other accomplices involved in the burglary.
SSP Kishtwar, Mr. Poswal-JKPS, highlighted the comprehensive CCTV coverage in Kishtwar town, with round-the-clock monitoring by a specialized team at the CCTV surveillance unit of Kishtwar Police. CCTV footage played a crucial role in apprehending the thieves.
