Symposium on “Need of Wildlife Conservation” Held by GDC Kishtwar’s Eco Club and Wildlife Protection Department

Kishtwar: In a joint effort to raise awareness about the crucial importance of wildlife conservation, the Eco Club of Government Degree College (GDC) Kishtwar partnered with the Department of Wildlife Protection, Jammu & Kashmir, specifically the Wildlife Chenab Division Kishtwar. The event, held under the guidance of Dr. Jyoti Parihar, Principal of GDC Kishtwar, was a resounding success, with Mr. Mansoor Ahmed, Range Officer, as the chief guest.

The symposium, which took place today, welcomed participants and attendees with a warm welcome address by Dr. Waheed Ahmed Hurra. A total of 50 students participated, and ten students took the stage to speak on the theme “Need of Wildlife Conservation.”

The top three speakers who left a lasting impression on the audience were Anurag Sharma (Semester 1st), Abroo Wajid (Semester 3), and Priya Manhas (Semester 1st), who secured the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes, respectively. The event’s judging panel included Prof. Waseem Rasheed, Prof. Akshay Sharma, and Mr. Mansoor Ahmed.

Following the speeches and competition, prizes were awarded to the deserving winners. Mr. Mansoor Ahmed, in his speech, emphasized the urgency of wildlife conservation and underscored the significance of wildlife. He also shed light on the initiatives taken by the Wildlife Department to safeguard wildlife.

The event proceedings were efficiently conducted by Mr. Shaik Farooq, a student of Semester 5th. The event saw active participation from both teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as students of the college.

The symposium on the “Need of Wildlife Conservation” served as a platform for students to voice their concerns and insights about preserving our invaluable wildlife. It highlighted the critical role that educational institutions and government departments play in fostering environmental awareness and conservation efforts.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Romana Akhter, expressing gratitude to all participants and attendees who made the symposium a meaningful and impactful event.
