Bhaderwah – The District Legal Services Authority, Bhaderwah, under the auspices of the Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority, recently marked the “UT Foundation Day” with a grand celebration that left an enduring impact on all those in attendance. This event, organized under the expert guidance of Pr District and Sessions Judge Bhaderwah and Chairman of DLSA, Sunit Gupta, was graced by the esteemed presence of Ramesh Lal, Secretary of DLSA (Sub Judge) Bhaderwah, who presided as the Chief Guest.
Advocate Mohd Majid Malik, a prominent Panel Lawyer, delivered a compelling address during the event, shedding light on the significant transformation witnessed in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir since the year 2019. He highlighted that the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019 came into effect on October 31, resulting in the applicability of 37 central laws to the union territory that were previously non-applicable. These laws include the Indian Penal Code, 1860, Code of Civil Procedure, 1908, Criminal Procedure Code, 1973, Representation Of People Act, 1950, Census Act 1948, Prevention Of Corruption Act, 1988, Income-Tax Act, 1961, Protection Of Human Rights Act, 1993, Official Languages Act, 1963, Press Council Act, 1978, Press and Registration Of Books Act, 1867, Insolvency And Bankruptcy Code, 2016, Census Act, 1948, Public Debt Act, 1944, Indian Forest Act, 1927, and All India Services Act, 1951.
Advocate Mohd Majid Malik also informed the audience about Section 96 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, which grants the Central Government the authority to make necessary adaptations and modifications to laws, whether through repeal or amendment.
“The UT Foundation Day celebration is not just a date on the calendar; it is a celebration of our journey toward a more prosperous and harmonious society,” emphasized Adv. Mohd Majid Malik. As part of the festivities, a “Swachhata Hi Sewa” cleanliness drive was conducted within the premises of the District Court Complex Bhaderwah.
