IGP Jammu Conducts Comprehensive Visit to Doda District

Doda – Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Anand Jain, IPS, recently concluded a thorough examination of security, crime, and law & order situations during his visit to Doda district on Saturday.

Early in the day, IGP Anand Jain, accompanied by DIG DKR, Dr. Sunil Gupta, IPS, visited Delta Force Headquarters at Dharmund, as per statement reached The Chenab Times. The discussions with the core Commander, GOC, and other Army Officers primarily focused on the security scenario in the region and highway security measures. The GOC offered valuable insights into the functions of the counter-terrorism grid in Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban areas.

During the journey to Doda, the IGP made a stop at the accident site in Assar, conducting a meticulous assessment to identify measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. SP Doda, Abdul Qayoom-JKPS, received the IGP during this visit. Upon arrival in Doda, a ceremonial guard of honour was accorded to the IGP.

A subsequent officers’ meeting, presided over by the IGP and attended by SSP Doda and all GOs/SHOs, aimed to review security, law and order, and crime in the district. The IGP issued directives to extend necessary support to the families affected by recent accident cases.

Emphasizing the urgency of tackling drug peddling, the IGP underscored the need to eradicate this menace from society. He called for stern action against individuals involved in drug trafficking, particularly considering the susceptibility of youth. Instructions were given to intensify efforts to improve the quality of investigations, especially in cases of heinous nature, with the objective of enhancing the conviction rate.

Recognizing the importance of cooperation between the Police and other security forces, the IGP urged senior officers to actively engage with the public. The focus was on educating people about countering terrorism, drug abuse, and other social evils. During the meeting, SSP Doda delivered a comprehensive presentation on the district profile and the workings of District Police.

Interaction with civil society members centered on soliciting their cooperation in eradicating social crimes, particularly drug abuse. The IGP reassured participants of the Police’s commitment to transparently and accountably curbing crime.

A visit to the Government Medical College Hospital Doda allowed the IGP to personally inquire about the condition of those injured in the Assar accident.

The visit concluded with the IGP inaugurating the new Martyrs Memorial at DPL Doda. During this ceremony, he expressed gratitude for the sacrifices made by police martyrs, emphasizing their vital role in maintaining a peaceful atmosphere.
