DPAP Raises Concerns Over Prolonged Power Cuts in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar – The Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) expressed serious concern and disappointment on Thursday regarding the prolonged and unscheduled power cuts in Kashmir, particularly with the onset of winter. Salman Nizami, the chief spokesperson for the party, highlighted the impact of these power cuts, stating that the BJP government has faltered on both security and developmental fronts, pushing the people of Jammu and Kashmir, especially Kashmir, into a state of hardship.

Nizami emphasized the growing frustration among the populace due to the severe and prolonged power outages, asserting that the current situation is among the worst in the history of Kashmir. He pointed out the contrast between the promises made after the abrogation of Article 370 and the ground reality, citing the escalating challenges posed by militancy and the exacerbating power crisis.

The DPAP chief spokesperson called on the government to address the power supply issues promptly, highlighting the increased tariffs and the widespread installation of smart meters across major and minor cities. Nizami underlined the significance of electricity as a basic necessity, asserting that every citizen has fundamental rights over it, and urged the government to fulfill its responsibility in ensuring a reliable power supply.

Expressing concern over the broader economic implications, Nizami noted that the drastic power cuts are adversely affecting not only the general population but also impacting small-scale industries, leading to a decline in productivity. He emphasized the government’s role in ensuring that power is supplied according to the promised schedule, emphasizing the crucial role electricity plays in the overall well-being and economic development of the region.
