The Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Doda has extended the deadline for minibus operators and owners to install CCTV cameras, retro-reflecting tape, and display vehicle owner/driver details in their vehicles. The previous deadline was 15 days from November 20, 2023, but it has been extended to December 10, 2023.
The extension comes after the November 15 Assar bus accident, which killed over 40 people and injured many. The ARTO’s order reads:
“In view of the request received from the Minibus Operators/Owners, the deadline for installation of CCTV cameras, retro-reflecting tape, and display of vehicle owner/driver details in their vehicles plying within the jurisdiction of Doda district is extended for one week from December 4, 2023 to December 10, 2023.”
The order also states that failure to comply with the order will result in legal action against the operators and owners.
