In a significant move aimed at curbing the menace of drug peddling, the Doda Police has successfully apprehended and booked a notorious individual under preventive detention. Ghulam Hassan, son of Abdul Satar Hajam and a resident of Tantna Tehsil Gundna in District Doda, has been identified as a habitual drug peddler.
The action was prompted by a series of complaints received at the Police Station Doda, highlighting Hassan’s alleged involvement in enticing the younger generation to consume drugs, thereby fostering addiction within the community. Acting promptly on this alarming information, the police initiated a detailed investigation.
A comprehensive report documenting Hassan’s activities, including his role in drug addiction and facilitating the involvement of other youths in drug selling and addiction, was prepared by the police. Subsequently, a police party, led by Inspector Jatinder Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of PS Doda, apprehended the accused.
Ghulam Hassan was produced before the Executive Magistrate Class 1st Doda, where decisions were made to detain him under preventive measures. He has now been lodged in District Jail Bhaderwah.
Doda Police, in its ongoing efforts to combat the drug menace, has launched a special drive to encourage public cooperation. Authorities urge the general public to provide any relevant information about drug peddling or addiction in their neighborhoods.
