In a significant breakthrough, the Kishtwar Police successfully apprehended Parvaiz Ahmed, a former militant who had managed to evade arrest for the past 18 years. The absconder was wanted in Case FIR No. 100/2005, under sections 302/307/RPC 7/27 IA Act, registered at PS Kishtwar, police said on Thursday.
Police in a statement said that acting on credible information from reliable sources, a specialized police team from PS Kishtwar, under the leadership of Inspector Parvaiz Ahmed Khanday, SHO PS Kishtwar, conducted targeted raids on suspected locations. The operation concluded with the successful arrest of the long-standing fugitive, identified as Parvaiz Ahmed @ Haris, son of Ab. Rashid Bagwan, residing in Hullar Kishtwar.
SSP Kishtwar Khalil Poswal-JKPS reiterated his warning to all absconders, urging them to surrender at the nearest police station. He emphasized that stern action under Section 82/83 CrPC would be taken against those who fail to comply.
