Notorious Drug Peddler Booked Under PSA in Doda

In a significant crackdown on the rampant drug trade plaguing the region, Jammu and Kashmir Police in District Doda has booked Yasir Ahmed, alias Thopa, son of Abdul Majeed from Sadiqabad, Doda, under the Public Safety Act (PSA). The decision comes in light of Ahmed’s extensive involvement in a series of grave criminal activities, primarily centered around the peddling of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

According to police statement, the arrest, carried out under the order of the District Magistrate Doda, places Ahmed in the confines of District Jail Bhaderwah. His persistent engagement in drug peddling had raised concerns among law enforcement, as he posed a significant threat to the local youth, jeopardizing their future by supplying contraband substances.

Multiple FIRs under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act were previously registered against Ahmed in Police Station Doda. Being a habitual offender and a key player in the illicit drug trade, his activities not only undermined public safety but also had the potential to escalate into a severe law and order situation.

The District Police emphasizes that the detention under PSA serves as a crucial deterrent to other criminals and drug smugglers in the area. It is anticipated that this measure will contribute to maintaining law and order, ultimately safeguarding the lives of innocent youth in the locality.

In an effort to combat the widespread issue of drug abuse, Doda Police has launched a special Anti-Drug Help Line (WhatsApp No. 9103317362) in PCR Doda. The general public is encouraged to provide information and report instances of drug peddling or addiction, ensuring the confidentiality of the informant. Doda Police, in a stern warning to potential smugglers, has cautioned them to refrain from engaging in drug trafficking and other criminal activities. Stringent legal actions, including detention under PSA and the seizure of property, await those who persist in these unlawful pursuits.

The District Police urges the community’s cooperation in the fight against drug-related crimes and reaffirms its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents of Doda.
