In a day marked by changing of guard ceremonies, both Doda and Kishtwar districts in Jammu and Kashmir witnessed the assumption of charge by new Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) on Wednesday.
Ms. P.D. Nitya, IPS, took the reins as SSP Doda, arriving to a warm welcome from senior officers and a guard of honor presented in her honor. In her introductory meeting, SSP Nitya urged officers and officials to work with dedication and enthusiasm to improve the working system and enhance public safety and security. She stressed the importance of teamwork and professionalism, directing each officer to ensure effective measures for the general public’s well-being.
Meanwhile, in Kishtwar, Mr. Abdul Qayoom-JKPS assumed charge as SSP, receiving a similar warm welcome and guard of honor. In his address, SSP Qayoom emphasized the need to address the problems faced by the people of Kishtwar with dedication and enthusiasm. He echoed SSP Nitya’s focus on teamwork and open communication, encouraging officers to keep their doors open for the public to easily reach out with their concerns.
Both new SSPs bring extensive experience and a commitment to public service. Ms. Nitya, a decorated IPS officer, has served in various capacities across Jammu and Kashmir. Mr. Qayoom, known for his community engagement efforts, brings a wealth of experience from his previous postings.
The changing of guard ceremonies also saw warm farewells for the outgoing SSPs. Mr. Abdul Qayoom-JKPS, who previously served as SSP Doda, was given a heartfelt send-off by officers and officials. Similarly, Mr. Khalil Poswal-JKPS, the outgoing SSP Kishtwar, was commended for his contributions to the district.
