Multiple Fatalities Feared as Vehicle Plunges into Gorge on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near Ramban

In a tragic incident late last night, a passenger cab en route from Jammu to Srinagar veered off the Jammu-Srinagar national highway and plummeted into a deep gorge near Battery Chashma in the Ramban area. The mishap has sparked concerns of multiple fatalities, according to local sources.

Sources told The Chenab Times that the cab, ferrying several passengers, met with the accident in the vicinity of Ramban’s Battery Chashma area, with fears mounting over the fate of those onboard.

Law enforcement authorities, including the Police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and Civil Quick Response Team (QRT), promptly arrived at the scene. However, rescue operations have yet to commence owing to the challenging terrain, darkness, and inclement weather conditions exacerbated by rain.

“The rescue operation has not yet commenced due to the steepness of the gorge, darkness, and heavy rainfall in the area,” sources informed The Chenab Times.

It has been disclosed that rescue efforts are slated to commence post 6 a.m. as authorities strategize to navigate the treacherous conditions and retrieve any survivors.

The precise details regarding the number of casualties and the identities of the affected individuals remain pending as authorities gear up for the rescue mission.
