  • Vote counting ended. In the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections in Jammu and Kashmir, Independent candidate Abdul Rashid, also known as Er Rashid, defeated JKNC’s Omar Abdullah for the Baramulla seat. JKNC’s candidate Mian Altaf triumphed over JKPDP’s Mehbooba Mufti for the Anantnag-Rajouri seat. Additionally, JKNC’s Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi won against JKPDP’s Waheed Ur Rahman Para for the Srinagar seat. In Jammu, BJP candidate Jugal Kishore defeated Congress candidate Raman Bhalla, while in Udhampur, BJP candidate Dr. Jitendra Singh overcame Congress candidate Ch. Lal Singh.
  • [2:20 PM]: Engineer Rashid leading with 1.5 lakh votes in Baramulla seat. Engineer Rashid is leading with 1,57,063 votes in Baramulla Lok Sabha seat. He has got 3,43,953 votes till now. Omar Abdullah is in second place on this seat. He has got 1,86,890 votes.
  • [1:58 PM]: Mehbooba Mufti also accepted defeat. PDP candidate Mehbooba Mufti has accepted defeat on Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat. However, the official result has not been declared on this seat yet. She posted on social media and said, ‘Respecting the decision of the people, I thank my PDP workers and leaders for their hard work and support despite all the difficulties. I am deeply grateful to the people who voted for me. Victory and defeat are part of the game and it cannot deter us from our path. Congratulations to Mian Sahab for his victory.’

He has posted on social media and congratulated Engineer Rashid. Engineer Rashid has been leading on this seat since morning. However, the official announcement of the result of this seat has not been made yet.

Counting of votes in Anantnag-Rajouri constituency, divided by the Pir Panjal range, will be held at Government Degree College (for boys) Anantnag and Government PG College Rajouri. Mehbooba Mufti is looking for a win from this constituency and is facing a tough challenge from NC’s Mian Altaf. There are also 10 independents and eight other candidates, including BJP-backed Apni Party’s Zafar Manhas.
  • [7:15 am]: Preparations complete at Government Degree College, Baramulla. Counting of votes in Baramulla constituency will be held at Government Degree College (for boys), Baramulla. This seat is expected to be a tough contest between Omar Abdullah and Sajjad Lone. A total of 22 candidates are in the fray, including jailed engineer Rashid, out of which 14 are independents.
  • [7:00 am]: Counting of votes for Udhampur will be done in Government Degree College, Kathua. Counting of votes for Udhampur constituency will be done in Government Degree College, Kathua. Counting of votes in Jammu and Kashmir today will decide the fate of 100 candidates, including senior BJP leader and Union Minister Jitendra Singh, two former chief ministers — Omar Abdullah of the National Conference (NC) and Mehbooba Mufti of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Other heavyweights include BJP MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, former Congress ministers Raman Bhalla and Choudhary Lal Singh, DPAP’s GM Saroori, NC’s Aga Ruhullah Mehdi and Mian Altaf, Ashraf Mir of Apni Party, People’s Conference (PC)’s Sajad Lone. Former MLA Engineer Rashid is contesting the election this time from Tihar jail.

  • [6:00 am]: Traffic diverted on roads adjacent to strong room buildings in Jammu. Counting of votes will begin in the state from 8 am on Tuesday. For this all preparations have been finalized at nine polling stations set up in Jammu-Kashmir and one in Delhi. Adequate security forces have been deployed outside polling stations to prevent possible ruckus by excited supporters. Along with this traffic will be diverted on roads adjacent to strong room buildings.

  • [5:00 am]: Whole Jammu and Kashmir is waiting for counting of the results going to be started at 8:00 am.
