Encounter Between Militants and Security Forces Underway in Gandoh area of Doda District

An encounter between militants and government forces has erupted in the Sinoo area of Gandoh, Doda District. The operation is currently in progress, with further details awaited.

The conflict marks the latest in a series of violent incidents in the region. On June 12, an encounter at Kota Top, Gandoh, resulted in the injury of Constable Fareed Ahmed (973/D) of the Special Operations Group (SOG) Gandoh. The skirmish was part of a broader spate of violence that has escalated tensions and led to multiple casualties.

On that same day, a CRPF jawan was killed and six security personnel were injured in two overnight encounters with militants in the Kathua and Doda districts. The unrest further intensified when a bus carrying pilgrims from the Shiv Khori shrine was attacked in Reasi, resulting in nine deaths and 42 injuries, days before these encounters.

The Doda district, known for its challenging terrain, has been a hotspot for militant activities in 2000s. But this region was declared militancy free area from past decade.

As the operation continues, the local community and broader public remain on edge, hoping for a swift and safe resolution to the conflict. The authorities have urged residents to stay indoors and remain alert to any advisories issued by the security forces.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available from the ongoing operation in Gandoh.
