Woman Detained Over Death Threat to Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, Allegedly Mentally Unstable

Authorities have detained a woman, identified as Fatima Khan from Ulhasnagar in Maharashtra’s Thane district, in connection with a death threat sent to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Police sources indicate that Khan, who allegedly sent the threat via WhatsApp, has shown signs of mental instability. The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), in collaboration with local police, traced and detained her following the receipt of the threat.

The message had demanded that Adityanath resign within 10 days or face a fate similar to that of Baba Siddique, a former Maharashtra minister who was recently shot dead in Bandra. The threat set off immediate security concerns, prompting an investigation to identify the sender.

The ATS and local police arrived at Fatima Khan’s residence in Ulhasnagar after tracing the message’s origin. She was subsequently taken to a local police station for questioning. According to a senior IPS officer, Khan has not been formally arrested but was issued a notice following preliminary interrogation. Authorities plan to assess her mental health condition as part of the investigation.

In light of this threat, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s security measures have been intensified to ensure his safety, particularly as he is expected to travel to Maharashtra for the upcoming state assembly elections.
