The announcement, dated December 6, 2024, was made via Government Order No. 521-JK (Edu) of 2024.
According to the directive, all government and recognized private schools up to the higher secondary level in the designated areas will observe the following vacation schedule:

- Classes 6th to 12th Standard: December 16, 2024, to February 28, 2025
The government emphasized strict compliance with the vacation schedule, particularly for teaching staff and administrators. High and higher secondary school teachers are required to report to their respective headquarters from February 10, 2025, onward to prepare for board examinations for classes 10, 11, and 12.
Additionally, teachers must remain available for any online guidance required by students during the vacation period. The government has warned that any non-compliance on the part of school heads or teaching staff will result in strict action under the rules.
The order was signed by Principal Secretary to the Government, Suresh Kumar Gupta, IFS, and has been circulated to key officials, including the Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, the Director General of Police, and the Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor.
This move aims to ensure a balance between student welfare during the harsh winter months and preparations for crucial board examinations.
