DODA, Jan 10 – Baber Mehta has been elected as the new President of the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Secretary Association, District Doda, following a highly competitive election held at the ACD Office Doda. Mehta won the election with a margin of ten votes, defeating his opponent, Dr. Shami Kumar.
The election, conducted under the chairmanship of Provincial President Jaffer Choudhary and caretaker District President Shehraz Iqbal, saw an unprecedented voter turnout of 97.75%. Of the 87 votes cast, Mehta secured 48 votes to claim victory for a three-year term.
In his acceptance speech, Mehta expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and pledged to serve the association’s members diligently. “It is an honor to lead this association at the district level. I am committed to working collaboratively towards the shared goals of the association,” he said.
Mehta also commended the outgoing president, Dr. Shami Kumar, for his contributions during his tenure and thanked the provincial leadership, including Jaffer Choudhary, for overseeing the election process.
The election was praised for its transparency and active member participation, reflecting a strong commitment to democratic values within the association.
