Kishtwar – The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Kishtwar, in collaboration with the Health Department Kishtwar, organized a free eye checkup and medical camp for drivers, transporters, and cleaners at Government Higher Secondary School Binoon. The initiative, held as part of the District Administration’s Block Diwas program, aimed to promote road safety and the well-being of the transport community.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan (JKAS), inaugurated the camp in the presence of Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Kishtwar, Tasleem Javaid Wani (JKAS), and Block Medical Officer (BMO) Kishtwar, Sat Lal Manhas. Speaking at the event, Shavan commended the efforts of the MVD and the Health Department for organizing the health camp and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in ensuring road safety.
ARTO Kishtwar highlighted that the camp provided more than 100 drivers, transporters, and cleaners with comprehensive medical checkups, including eye examinations. Free medicines were also distributed to attendees. In addition to addressing immediate health concerns, the camp served as a platform to raise awareness about road safety measures.
“We are committed to ensuring the health and safety of transporters, who play a crucial role in daily commuting and goods transportation,” Wani said. “Through this initiative, we aimed to educate drivers on the importance of road safety, vehicle maintenance, and adherence to traffic laws.”
The event underscored the significance of regular health checkups for drivers to prevent road accidents caused by vision impairments or other medical conditions. Authorities urged transporters to follow safety protocols and maintain their vehicles in compliance with road safety regulations.
