KISHTWAR, Feb 14 – Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan (JKAS), chaired a meeting of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) on Friday reviewing and approving transport-related proposals for the district.
Member Secretary RTA and Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Kishtwar, Tasleem Wani (JKAS), presented 26 cases for Letters of Authority (LAs) and 144 applications for All J&K Route Permits. Following deliberations, the committee approved 11 cases for Stage Carriage Mini Buses and 15 cases for four-wheeler Tata Magic/Maximo vehicles, including 10 under the MUMKIN Scheme. Additionally, all 144 All J&K Route Permits were sanctioned.
Applications seeking changes in routes were deferred, pending verification of transportation demand in under-served areas. The chairman emphasized public safety, instructing officials to assess road conditions before issuing Letters of Authority.
The meeting also addressed traffic congestion in Kishtwar town. The ARTO was directed to implement stricter traffic regulations and ensure designated parking spaces for passenger vehicles.
The session was attended by Additional Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar (JKPS) and other officials.
