JAMMU, March 9 – A youth and an elderly man were murdered in two separate incidents in Jammu, police said on Sunday, adding that five suspects have been arrested in connection with the crimes.
In the first incident, a 23-year-old man, Mukesh Kumar, was allegedly killed by his younger brother following a domestic dispute in Smailpur, Domana, during the early hours of Sunday, a police spokesperson said.
The accused, identified as 20-year-old Anil Kumar, attacked his brother with a sharp-edged weapon, causing fatal injuries. He was arrested shortly after the incident, police said.
In a separate case in Shakti Nagar, four men allegedly assaulted an elderly man, Madan Lal, and his son over an old enmity before throwing Lal from the rooftop of his house, police said.
According to a complaint filed in the case, the suspects—Ashok Kumar, Sahil Badiyal, Aman, and Rishi—forced their way into Lal’s residence and attacked him and his son, Sanjay Kumar, using baseball bats and lathis.
Lal was critically injured in the attack and was shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries, police said.
All four accused have been arrested, and further investigations are underway, the spokesperson added.
