DODA, MARCH 11: A 60-year-old shepherd lost his life after falling from a height into a gorge near Jangalwar Army Road Zero Point Thathri on National Highway 244 in Doda district.
According to The Chenab Times, the deceased, identified as Ghulam Rasool, a resident of Malat in Panchayat Chilli of Bhalessa, was tending to his flock when the incident occurred. His son, Mohd Din, who was present at the scene, said that Rasool fell while trying to protect the sheep from an attack by stray dogs.
Local residents and volunteers from Ababeel NGO rushed to the spot after the incident. Police also arrived at the scene and recovered the body, which was then shifted to the Community Health Centre (CHC) Thathri for medico-legal formalities.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the accident.
