DODA, May 8 (The Chenab Times) – The District Development Commissioner (DDC) of Doda, in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, has issued an order appointing 52 officers from various departments as Prabhari Officers to oversee the functioning of Government Higher Secondary Schools (HSS) and High Schools (HS) across the district. The initiative aims to improve educational outcomes, provide career guidance, and address infrastructure and academic challenges in these institutions, according to an official document released on May 8, 2025.
The Prabhari Officers, drawn from diverse administrative roles, have been assigned specific schools to monitor and mentor. Their responsibilities include ensuring smooth classroom operations, raising awareness about the Swachh Gram/Panchayat and Nasha Mukht campaigns, and providing career counseling to students. They will also analyze low pass percentages, propose remedial measures, evaluate infrastructure gaps, and monitor teacher and student attendance, according to an order—a copy of which reviewed by The Chenab Times. Each officer is required to visit their assigned schools physically at least once a month and virtually twice a month, acting as a bridge between the administration and the schools.
The appointments cover a wide range of schools across Doda. The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Doda, will oversee HSS Khellani and HS Malhori, while the Chief Planning Officer, Doda, is assigned HSS Boys Doda and HS Bundoda. The Excise Taxation Officer, Doda, will manage HSS Bhalra and HS Nichlathara. The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Bhaderwah, is responsible for HSS Bhaderwah and LHS Nagar, and the Deputy District Election Officer, Doda, will monitor HSS Shiva and LHS Sharerna.
Further assignments include the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Assar, for HSS Assar and HS Baggar; the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Gandoh, for HSS Gandoh and HS Bhargi; and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Thathri, for HSS Malanoo and HS Kencha. The Principal of Government Degree College, Doda, will oversee HSS Bhagwah and HS Kanhal, while the Principal of Government Degree College, Kilhotran, is assigned HSS Inharah and GHS Kilhotran. The Principal of Government Degree College, Thathri, will manage HSS Halaran and HS Joura, and the Principal of Government Degree College, Bhaderwah, is responsible for GHS Bhaerwah and HS Mathola.
The District Programme Officer, ICDS Doda, will monitor GHS Doda and HS Pul Doda, and the General Manager, DIC Doda, is assigned HSS Trown and HS Bhagratha. The Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Doda, will oversee HSS Berraru and HS Panisoo, while the Assistant Commissioner Development, Doda, is responsible for HSS Jatheli and HS Dhara. The Chief Education Officer, Doda, will manage HSS Ghat and LHS Bhabhore.
Block Development Officers have also been assigned schools: Chiralla for HSS Chinta and HS Manthala; Marmat for HSS Behota and HS Mangtota; Kastigarh for HSS Kastigarh and HS Dharouth; Bhagwah for HSS Gurmal and HS Kuddhar; Bhallessa for HSS Sinnoo and HS Chounri; Kahara for HSS Kilhotran and HS Thaloran; Bhaderwah for HSS Drudoo and HS Seri; Assar for HSS Topneel and HS Shamthi; Bhalla for HSS Chakraydharthi and HS Pranoo; Jakyas for HSS Jakyas and HS Gundow; Ghat for HSS Mohalla and HS Gulmana; and Gundana for HSS Gundna and HS Ablimasri.
Other appointments include the Divisional Forest Officer, Doda, for HSS Bessa and HS Bhata; the Divisional Forest Officer, Bhaderwah, for HSS Malhothi and HS Dugu; the Assistant Labour Commissioner, Doda, for HSS Bhella and HS Thaleia; the Assistant Commissioner Panchayats, Doda, for HSS Chilly and HS Chilly Bala; and the Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Doda, for HSS Gowari and HS Batara. The District Social Welfare Officer, Doda, will oversee HSS Jangalwar and HS Jaghote, and the District Statistics and Evaluation Officer, Doda, is assigned GHSS Thathri and LHS Thathri.
Child Development Project Officers have been tasked as follows: Bhagwah for HSS Sazan and HS Buarni; Assar for HSS Malan and HS Sheenkly; Bhaderwah for HSS Guraka and HS Chatra; and Thathri for HSS Kandhote and LHS Panthan. The Assistant Director, FCS&CA Doda, will monitor HSS Koti and LHS Dashnan.
Tehsildars have also been appointed: Doda for HSS Jodhpur and HS Hanch; Marmat for HSS Goha Marmat and HS Hambal; Bhaderwah for HSS Sartingal and HS Bheja; Kastigarh for HSS Chill and HS Gagla; Changa for HSS Kaulgasar and HS Alni; Gandoh for HSS Chanti and HS Bharthi; Chiralla for HSS Chiralla and HS Poneja; Thathri for HSS Nandna and HS Jaghota; Gundana for HSS Shadiwan and HS Breswana; Kahara for HSS Tanta and HS Kahara; and Bharath Bagla for HSS Bharath and HS Bagla.
The Chief Education Officer, Doda, has been directed to ensure that school heads cooperate with the Prabhari Officers and assist during their visits. Copies of the order have been sent to the Principal Secretary to the Government School Education Department, the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, and the Director School Education, Jammu, for information, with all Prabhari Officers and school principals instructed to comply.
The initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to improving educational standards and fostering holistic development in Doda’s government schools, officials said.
