JKSSB Defers Naib Tehsildar Recruitment Process Following CAT Direction

The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has deferred the recruitment process for the posts of Naib Tehsildar in the Revenue Department in light of an interim order passed by the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Jammu Bench.

In an official notification dated July 15, 2025, issued by Mr. Farrukh Qazi (JKAS), Secretary, JKSSB, it has been stated that the advertisement notification No. 05 of 2025, dated June 9, 2025, which invited applications for the aforementioned posts, stands deferred until further orders.

The development comes in response to an interim direction issued by the Hon’ble CAT in the matter titled Rajesh Singh and Others vs General Administration Department (O.A. No. 975/2025 with M.A. No. 1009/2025). The tribunal, vide its order dated July 14, 2025, directed that the ongoing recruitment process be temporarily halted.

“In view of the interim direction passed by the Hon’ble Central Administrative Tribunal, Jammu… the process of inviting applications for the post of Naib Tehsildar… is hereby deferred till further intimation/orders,” the notification reads.

The JKSSB has accordingly communicated the decision to all concerned departments and stakeholders, including the Revenue and General Administration Departments, Divisional Commissioners of Kashmir and Jammu, and media offices responsible for disseminating public notices.

The notification has also been forwarded to Director, Door Darshan Kendra, Jammu/Srinagar, and Director, Radio Kashmir Jammu/Srinagar/Bhaderwah/Kupwara, for wide public dissemination through electronic media.

The recruitment drive for Naib Tehsildars had attracted considerable attention across the Union Territory, given the administrative importance and outreach of the role at the grassroots level.

While the JKSSB has not offered further details on the nature of the legal challenge, the deferral indicates the Board’s adherence to judicial directions and procedural integrity. The recruitment process will remain on hold until a conclusive order is issued by the tribunal.
