Doda, August 20: The annual three-day Jantroon Dangal, a traditional wrestling event held at Jantroon Top in Doda district, has been cancelled this year as a mark of condolence for the recent cloudburst in Kishtwar.
As per a note issued to The Chenab Times by the Dangal Committee Jantroon Chiralla on August 20, 2025, a meeting was convened the same day in which it was unanimously decided to suspend the event. The committee stated that the decision was taken to express solidarity with the victims and families affected by the tragedy.
The notice, signed by the Chairman of the Dangal Committee Chiralla (Jantroon), emphasized that while the event has been a cultural tradition since 1966, the calamity in Kishtwar called for a pause in celebrations this year.
The Jantroon Dangal is usually organised every year during the month of Sawan, drawing thousands of spectators from across the Chenab Valley.
