Pakistan bundled out for 146 against India in Asia Cup T20 clash

Dubai, September 28 — Pakistan were bowled out for 146 in 19.1 overs against India in their Asia Cup T20 encounter on Sunday, despite a brisk opening partnership that initially threatened to set up a bigger total.

Opting to bowl first, India’s bowlers recovered well after Saim Ayub and Fakhar Zaman gave Pakistan a flying start. Sahibzada Farhan top-scored with 57 off 38 deliveries, striking three sixes and five boundaries. Zaman supported him with 46 from 35 balls, the duo adding 84 runs for the first wicket. But once Varun Chakaravarthy broke the stand, Pakistan’s innings collapsed under sustained pressure.

From 114 for 3 in the 13th over, the middle and lower order crumbled against India’s spinners and Jasprit Bumrah’s incisive bursts. Salman Ali Agha (8), Mohammad Nawaz (6), and Shaheen Afridi (0) offered little resistance. Pakistan lost their last seven wickets for just 32 runs.

For India, Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy were the most effective, sharing five wickets between them and choking the middle overs. Axar Patel returned tidy figures of 2 for 26, while Bumrah struck at crucial intervals, finishing with 3 for 25.

The collapse meant Pakistan failed to fully capitalise on the powerplay momentum and Farhan’s fluent knock. Their final total of 146 is unlikely to trouble India on a batting-friendly surface, unless Pakistan’s pace attack can produce early breakthroughs.

India will begin their chase after the innings break, needing 147 runs to secure victory in this high-voltage contest.
