Doda, October 27, 2025 – The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh at Jammu has postponed hearing on a detained legislator’s request to join the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir assembly session until October 30, 2025.
Justice Mohd. Yusuf Wani heard the application filed by Mehraj Malik, who is currently detained, seeking permission to attend the session. According to details received by The Chenab Times, the court considered arguments from both sides before adjourning the matter.
Senior Advocate Rahul Pant, along with Advocates S.S. Ahmed, Appu Singh Slathia, and M. Zulkarnain Chowdhary, represented Malik. They submitted detailed contentions in support of the application and stressed the need for an immediate decision due to the session’s timeline.
Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi, assisted by Senior Additional Advocate General Monika Kohli, appeared for the Jammu and Kashmir government. They presented a reply to the application and offered their submissions to the court.
The court deferred consideration of the specific prayer for assembly participation to October 30, 2025. The main petition remains scheduled for November 7, 2025.
