Doda, November 17 – Doda Police filed FIR No. 257/2025 under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against house owner Bablu Sharma of Santosh Nagar for renting out a room in Nagri Toundwa without mandatory tenant verification, following a routine patrol on November 16.
A team led by PSI Sonalika Sharma, along with SPOs Prem Singh and Sher Mohammad, spotted a girl moving suspiciously around 7:30 p.m. in the area. Upon questioning, she disclosed residing in a rented room for 15–16 days, according to details received by The Chenab Times from the Police Media Cell.
Officers inspected the accommodation and confirmed the landlord had failed to submit the required Tenant Declaration Form, violating District Magistrate orders.
Senior Superintendent of Police Sandeep Mehta has directed regular awareness campaigns on tenant verification, conducted by SHO Doda Inspector Parvaiz Ahmed Khanday.
Doda Police reiterated its call for all landlords to comply with verification norms to ensure public safety. The investigation continues.
