The Delhi High Court directed social media intermediaries to respond within three days to Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s complaint seeking protection of his personality rights. The court heard the suit amid concerns over unauthorized commercial use of his name, image and voice.
According to details received by The Chenab Times, Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora took up the matter on Thursday. Khan sued Ashok Kumar, John Doe defendants and others to restrain misuse of his attributes. LiveLaw reported that Senior Advocate Sandeep Sethi represented Khan.
The court referenced a prior order in the NTR Junior personality rights case, advising parties to approach platforms first. PTI noted the bench’s directive for intermediaries to act promptly on the grievance.
Khan joins celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor and others who secured similar protections from the Delhi High Court. The suit, filed through Parag H Khandhar and Chandrima Mitra of DSK Legal, highlights rising deepfake and endorsement threats.
As per reports, the plea seeks injunctions against entities exploiting Khan’s persona without consent. No final orders were issued as of afternoon. The matter is listed for further hearing next week.
