Two House Owners Booked in Jammu for Housing Tenants Without Police Verification

Police in Jammu registered two cases against house owners for violating District Magistrate orders by renting premises without mandatory tenant verification. The action comes amid heightened security measures ahead of Republic Day celebrations.

According to details received by The Chenab Times, Police Station Bahu Fort booked the owners under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Rising Kashmir reported the cases as FIR No. 09/2026 against Shakeela, wife of Pritam Chand from Rajiv Nagar, Narwal, and FIR No. 11/2026 against Rohit Kumar, son of late Dharampal from Narwal.

The enforcement drive was led by In-Charge Police Post Narwal and SHO Bahu Fort, supervised by SDPO City East, SP City South and SSP Jammu. Authorities emphasized compliance with tenant verification norms for security during national events.

Jammu Police appealed to house owners to adhere to guidelines and urged citizens to cooperate for peace and law and order during Republic Day.
