ABRSM Doda Unit Welcomes New CEO in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda District

The Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh (ABRSM) District Doda unit held a formal welcome meeting to felicitate the newly appointed Chief Education Officer (CEO) of Doda, Bhushan Kumar Pathak. The event brought together representatives of the teachers’ organisation and the new education official to discuss challenges in the district’s schooling system.

According to details received by The Chenab Times, the meeting was organised by Neeraj Sharma, State Additional General Secretary and in-charge for District Doda, and presided over by Suresh Kumar, District President of ABRSM Doda. The newly appointed CEO was accompanied by Sanjay Dogra, Chief Education Officer of neighbouring Kishtwar district. Prominent ABRSM members in attendance included Sanjay Sharma (State Vice President), Mohan Singh Parihar (District Organisational Secretary), Dr. Ameet Singh (General Secretary), Rakeshwar Singh (District Vice President), and several others such as Papu Sharma, Chander Krishan, Angat Manhas, Khel Singh, Jugal Kishore, Satish Parihar, and Ravi Parihar.

The ABRSM District Doda unit highlighted the district’s difficult mountainous terrain in Jammu and Kashmir, which creates significant barriers for both teachers and students. Participants outlined key concerns involving academic delivery, administrative processes, and infrastructure deficiencies that continue to impact the education sector in this remote region of the Union Territory. Doda district, located in the Chenab Valley, features rugged geography that often disrupts access to schools, particularly during harsh winters and monsoons, affecting regular attendance and resource availability.

Addressing the gathering, CEO Bhushan Kumar Pathak assured the teaching community that genuine issues raised by students and staff would receive priority attention. He stressed the value of ongoing coordination and open dialogue between the education department and teachers’ organisations to support efficient school operations throughout the district. Pathak reaffirmed his dedication to raising academic performance, tackling administrative hurdles, and fostering a learning environment that prioritises student needs. He had recently assumed charge following a transfer order from the School Education Department, Jammu and Kashmir, where he previously served as in-charge Principal of DIET Basholi in Kathua district.

The interaction reflects broader efforts to strengthen education in Doda amid ongoing challenges in Jammu and Kashmir’s school system. Teachers’ groups like ABRSM, which operates across the country with a focus on cultural and national values in education, play an active role in representing educators’ concerns at the local level. The meeting concluded on an optimistic note with a vote of thanks, as participants expressed hope for a productive and collaborative period under the new CEO’s leadership.
