Jammu and Kashmir: Senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Shreya Singhal has officially taken charge as the Director of Information for Jammu and Kashmir, assuming leadership of the department responsible for public relations and information dissemination.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that Singhal, a 2018 batch officer of the AGMUT cadre, assumed her new responsibilities earlier today. She immediately convened an introductory meeting with senior officers and officials of the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), where she reviewed the department’s operational functions and primary duties.
During her initial address, Director Singhal emphasized the critical importance of disseminating information in a manner that is transparent, timely, and centered around the needs of the public. She articulated that the Information Department serves as an essential conduit between the government and its citizens, playing a pivotal role in raising awareness about various developmental initiatives and crucial welfare schemes being implemented across the Union Territory.
Singhal outlined her strategic vision, which includes a strong focus on enhancing the communication infrastructure. This involves leveraging modern technological advancements, with a particular emphasis on increasing the utilization of digital platforms. Furthermore, her plans encompass improving coordination with media organizations and fostering deeper engagement with all relevant stakeholders to ensure effective communication flows.
The introductory meeting was attended by several key officials from the DIPR. Among those present were Joint Director Information (Headquarters) Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Raina, Joint Director Information Jammu Deepak Dubey, and Deputy Director Information (PR and AV) Javid Ahmad Rather. Other senior officers and staff members of the department also participated in the proceedings.
Shreya Singhal, who secured an all-India rank of 176 in the 2018 civil services examination, was born in Uttar Pradesh. Prior to her current assignment, she graduated with a degree in chemical engineering from the Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) Jaipur, bringing a unique technical background to her administrative role.
