An altercation between two acquaintances in Gurugram’s Dhanwapur village escalated dramatically when they used their Mahindra Scorpio SUVs as weapons, repeatedly crashing them into each other. The incident, which occurred on a village road and was captured on video, narrowly avoided causing injuries to bystanders, including several motorcyclists and scooter riders.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that confirmed the individuals involved are residents of Dhanwapur and were known to each other. Ward-7 councillor Dinesh Dahiya stated that the two were friends and a minor disagreement triggered the vehicular ramming. Following the incident, both parties reportedly issued public apologies.
The visual of the SUVs colliding and nudging each other multiple times on the dusty village thoroughfare gained significant traction online, prompting an inquiry by the Rajendra Nagar police. Stationed officers summoned both individuals to the police station, where, in the presence of their families, they reached a written compromise. Consequently, no formal police complaint was lodged, and no further legal action has been initiated against them.
While police officials indicated that efforts are ongoing to determine the precise origin of the dispute, their immediate focus was on resolving the matter through compromise due to the absence of a formal complaint. The incident, however, sparked considerable discussion on social media platforms. Numerous users on Reddit and X expressed dismay over the reckless behaviour, calling for action from traffic authorities despite the amicable resolution between the friends. Many argued that such a dangerous display endangered lives and warranted official intervention, regardless of personal reconciliation.
The viral video depicted the two SUVs moving erratically, with their bonnets and sides impacting repeatedly. At one point, a motorcycle rider was seen swerving sharply to avoid being hit, highlighting the potential for serious harm. The confrontation brought traffic to a standstill in the village, drawing the attention of local residents and passersby.
This incident underscores the challenges faced by law enforcement in addressing public disturbances that, while resolved amicably between the parties involved, demonstrate a disregard for public safety and traffic regulations. The public outcry on social media reflects a growing sentiment for accountability in cases of dangerous driving, even when direct complainants are absent.
