SRINAGAR, April 13: A senior lecturer in Sopore, north Kashmir, has been suspended and a police case registered against him following allegations of harassment by a female student. An inquiry has also been ordered into the matter by the Directorate of School Education Kashmir.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the Senior Superintendent of Police Sopore, Iftikhar Talib, confirmed that the lecturer was booked after the student’s accusations. An investigation has commenced to ascertain the facts surrounding the allegations.
The Directorate of School Education Kashmir took immediate action by suspending the lecturer. In parallel, an inquiry has been initiated to thoroughly investigate the conduct of the accused educator. The Joint Director North has been appointed as the inquiry officer and tasked with completing a time-bound probe. He has been directed to submit his findings and report within a period of 15 days.
The allegations have prompted a strong reaction from students, who organized a protest in Sopore town. Demonstrators demanded stringent action against the lecturer, highlighting the gravity of the accusations. The student community’s vocal response underscores the sensitivity of the issue and the expectations for a swift and fair resolution.
