Jammu Woman Dies, Two Injured in Rajouri Road Accident

An elderly woman died and two other family members sustained injuries when their car met with an accident on the Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch National Highway in Rajouri district on Sunday evening. The vehicle reportedly overturned near Balshama village.

The Chenab Times has learned that the incident occurred when a car, bearing registration number JK02CF 4577, skidded off the road and overturned. Police officials stated that the accident took place in Balshama village, close to Sunderbani, a locality within Rajouri district.

The deceased has been identified as Kulwant Kour, 75, wife of Nirmal Singh, a resident of Damnesh Nagar, Digana, Jammu. She was declared dead at the scene of the accident.

Two other passengers travelling in the car, identified as Suvneek Singh and his father Didar Singh, son of Nirmal Singh, also residing in Damnesh Nagar, Digana, Jammu, suffered injuries in the mishap. They were provided with immediate medical attention following the incident.

Preliminary investigations suggest the vehicle lost control on the highway, leading to the fatal accident. Authorities have initiated an inquiry into the precise cause of the crash. The Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch National Highway is a critical arterial route connecting the Jammu division with the Poonch district, and road safety remains a significant concern along its stretches.

The accident serves as a somber reminder of the ongoing challenges related to road safety in the region, where terrain and weather conditions can often contribute to hazardous driving situations.
