Jammu and Kashmir: IGP Kashmir Reviews Security Ahead of Forthcoming Events

Srinagar, Apr 17: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone, V. K. Birdi presided over a critical security review meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir on Thursday, to meticulously assess and finalize security arrangements in anticipation of upcoming events across the valley.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that the deliberations during the meeting centered on strengthening the existing security framework and optimizing the deployment of personnel at vulnerable and sensitive locations. The IGP issued directives for intensified surveillance on anti-national elements and enhanced area domination operations within their respective jurisdictions.

A significant focus was placed on bolstering security measures around prominent tourist destinations and other vulnerable installations to ensure a safe and secure environment for both residents and visitors. Strict vigilance along inter-district boundaries was also emphasized to prevent any suspicious movements. Specific instructions were also issued to district heads to maintain heightened vigilance over social media platforms, aiming to curb the spread of misinformation that could potentially disrupt public safety and order.

The meeting also addressed the forthcoming Hajj pilgrimage, with the IGP directing officers to ensure adequate security, facilitation, and seamless coordination at all designated points to guarantee the safe and orderly movement of pilgrims. Preparations for effective traffic management in Srinagar city were also reviewed, including instructions to implement a comprehensive traffic plan designed to alleviate congestion, ensure smooth vehicular flow, and minimize public inconvenience.

Furthermore, the IGP called for intensified cordon and search operations, particularly in sensitive areas throughout the Kashmir Valley and along the National Highways. These measures are aimed at proactively addressing potential security threats and ensuring a secure environment for all upcoming activities.

The meeting was attended by a high-level delegation of senior security officials, including the Inspector General of CRPF Srinagar Sector, Inspector General of CRPF KOS, Additional Commissioner SB Srinagar, Deputy Inspectors General of CRPF (North Srinagar & KOS), DIG Traffic Kashmir, DIG CKR, DIG SKR, DIG BSF Ops Ftr, DIG SSB Srinagar, DIG ITBP, all District Senior Superintendents of Police (SSsP) of Kashmir Zone, Assistant Director SIB Srinagar, Colonel GS 15 Corps, and SSsPs from various specialized units including PCR Kashmir, Traffic Rural Kashmir, Railways Kashmir, Security Kashmir, SDRF 1st Bn Srinagar, CID CI Kashmir, APCR, and Traffic City Srinagar.
