The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed its fifth supplementary chargesheet in the 2014 case involving links to the Islamic State (ISIS), this time against Areeb Majeed, a former engineering student. The latest chargesheet, filed before the special NIA court in Mumbai, includes the charge of raising funds for terror activities.
Majeed, who hails from Kalyan in Thane district, is already on trial for various terrorist acts and offenses. The inclusion of Section 17 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, which pertains to raising funds for terrorist organizations, marks a significant development in the ongoing legal proceedings against him. Majeed is reportedly the only individual arrested in this particular case.
The 2014 case, which has seen multiple supplementary chargesheets filed by the NIA, concerns individuals suspected of having ISIS affiliations.
