CHANDIGARH: Punjab Police have apprehended four individuals and dismantled an interstate and potentially foreign-linked narcotics and illegal arms module in Hoshiarpur district. The operation resulted in the recovery of over nine kilograms of heroin, two foreign-made pistols, eight magazines, and forty live cartridges.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that the Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, announced the significant breakthrough on the social media platform X. He detailed the apprehension of the four accused and the substantial seizure of contraband and weapons. This operation marks a major success for the Punjab Police in their ongoing efforts to combat organized crime and drug trafficking.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the arrested individuals were acting as local operatives for gangsters based abroad. These foreign-based gangsters are allegedly involved in orchestrating drug trafficking operations and supplying illegal firearms into the region. The police are working to establish the full extent of this network, including its international connections.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the accused at the Garhshankar police station in Hoshiarpur. Authorities are now focused on furthering the investigation to uncover the complete network, identify all involved parties, and dismantle the entire operation. The police are determined to establish the forward and backward linkages of the module to ensure comprehensive action against those involved in criminal activities.

The recovery of foreign-made pistols indicates a serious escalation in the supply chain of illegal weapons, posing a significant threat to public safety. The quantity of heroin seized also points to a substantial drug trafficking operation that has been disrupted by this police action. The authorities have emphasized their commitment to eradicating such modules and ensuring the state remains free from the menace of drugs and illegal arms.

This successful operation underscores the persistent efforts of the Punjab Police to maintain law and order and combat sophisticated criminal networks. The investigation is expected to yield further details about the modus operandi of the arrested individuals and their handlers, potentially leading to more arrests and seizures. The police department has urged citizens to cooperate with them in reporting any suspicious activities that could aid in preventing criminal acts.
