SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir is forecast to experience a period of unsettled weather conditions, including chances of rain, thundershowers, and hailstorms, according to the Meteorological Centre Srinagar. The forecast predicts this spell will be followed by largely dry weather in the coming days.
Information was available with The Chenab Times indicating that the current weather pattern is expected to bring partly cloudy skies with isolated instances of light to moderate rain or thundershowers across most areas on May 4. There is also a possibility of thunderstorms, hailstorm activity, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph in scattered locations throughout Kashmir and parts of the Jammu division.
The forecast for May 5 suggests brief periods of light rain and thundershowers at scattered places, primarily occurring during the afternoon hours. Following this, from May 6 to May 9, the weather is anticipated to remain predominantly dry, though isolated brief afternoon showers cannot be entirely ruled out.
Looking ahead to the period between May 10 and May 12, mostly dry conditions are projected. However, scattered locations may still witness brief spells of light rain or thundershowers during this timeframe.
The Meteorological Centre has issued an advisory, warning residents of potential hazards associated with the forecasted adverse weather. These include the risks of thunder, lightning, hailstorm, and gusty winds at isolated places across both the Kashmir and Jammu regions.
In response to these predictions, authorities have advised the suspension of boating and shikara activities on local water bodies during periods of adverse weather. Residents have also been urged to take precautions, such as staying away from weak structures, electric poles, and overhead wires. The public has been further advised to remain indoors during instances of thunder and lightning activity to ensure their safety.
