SRINAGAR: A vehicle transporting sheep overturned on the Mughal Road near Dubjan on Sunday, resulting in the death of multiple animals. No human casualties were reported in the incident, officials confirmed.
According to details received by The Chenab Times, the Tata Mobile vehicle, bearing registration number JK12B-9441, skidded and overturned by the roadside. The incident occurred while the vehicle was traversing the scenic, yet often challenging, Mughal Road, a vital link connecting the Kashmir Valley with the Jammu region.
The Traffic Check Post (TCP) Heerpora confirmed the accident. Authorities stated that while the driver and any occupants of the vehicle escaped unharmed, the sheep being transported suffered fatalities due to the impact of the overturn. The exact number of deceased animals has not been officially disclosed.
The Mughal Road is known for its winding terrain and variable weather conditions, which can pose risks to vehicular traffic, particularly for those carrying livestock or goods. This stretch of road passes through the Pir Panjal range, offering breathtaking views but also demanding careful navigation.
Following the incident, local police have been informed and have initiated an investigation. Further details regarding the cause of the accident and the extent of the loss are awaited as authorities continue their assessment.
