A Rapido bike rider and his passenger died on Tuesday morning after a speeding truck collided with their motorcycle in Gurugram’s Sector 95 area.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the deceased have been identified as Rohit Kumar Gupta, 29, a resident of Lucknow, and Jaipal, 24, who hailed from Auraiya in Uttar Pradesh. Gupta was a tenant in Shanti Vihar, Sector 95, and was employed with a private firm based in Delhi. He had booked the Rapido service to commute to his office when the incident occurred.
The accident took place when Gupta and Jaipal were traveling from Sector 95 towards Delhi. According to preliminary reports, as they crossed Sati Chowk, a truck approaching from behind struck their motorcycle. The impact caused both individuals to fall onto the road, sustaining severe injuries.
Passersby promptly transported the injured duo to a private hospital located in Sector 90. Despite efforts to save them, both Rohit Kumar Gupta and subsequently Jaipal succumbed to their injuries.
Following the incident, Rohit Kumar Gupta’s father, Vinod Kumar Gupta, travelled from Lucknow to Gurugram. He lodged a complaint with the local police, attributing the accident to the alleged negligence of the truck driver. The bodies were handed over to the family members by the authorities after the completion of post-mortem examinations.
The Kherki Daula police station has registered a case against the unidentified truck driver. Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify the vehicle involved in the collision. Probationer Sub-Inspector Ranjeet Singh, who is handling the investigation, confirmed the registration of the case.
