Jammu and Kashmir: Sopore Police Attach Property of Hizbul Mujahideen Linked Proclaimed Offender

Sopore Police have attached immovable property belonging to a proclaimed offender with alleged ties to the banned Hizbul Mujahideen militant organisation. The action is part of a sustained crackdown on individuals involved in activities detrimental to national security.

According to details received by The Chenab Times, the property attached was land measuring two kanals located at Lashdaej Nadihal, valued in lakhs. The proclaimed offender has been identified as Rasid-ud-Din Qureshi, son of Abdul Kabir Qureshi, a resident of Nadihal Rafiabad. He had reportedly crossed into Pakistan Occupied Kashmir to receive arms and ammunition training and is believed to be coordinating with the Hizbul Mujahideen network from Pakistan.

The attachment of the property was carried out in compliance with orders from the Honourable Court. Qureshi had been evading legal proceedings for an extended period, leading to his declaration as a proclaimed offender under Section 88 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The proceedings were executed after thorough verification through revenue records and local inquiries, conducted in the presence of revenue officials and independent witnesses.

This marks the third such attachment action by Sopore Police within a span of three days, underscoring an intensified effort to dismantle the terror ecosystem. Officials stated that these measures are integral to the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s ongoing commitment to disrupt militant networks, choke support structures, and take stringent legal action against those associated with activities prejudicial to the nation’s security and integrity.

The investigations revealed that Qureshi is involved in Case FIR No. 02/2008, registered at Police Station Panzalla under the E&IMCO Act. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to continuing lawful and strict actions against individuals involved in militancy, terror financing, or providing support to militant organisations in any capacity.
