DODA (The Chenab Times) – Jammu and Kashmir MLA Mehraj Malik has recommended the immediate repair of the historic Premnagar footbridge over the River Chenab in Doda district, allocating funds from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
In an official letter dated May 31, 2026, addressed to the Deputy Commissioner of Doda, Malik urged authorities to take up the repair work at Premnagar footbridge located in Pyt Jatheli, Block Gundna.
According to the details available with The Chenab Times, the estimated cost of the project is ₹10 lakh. Malik has recommended the release of ₹5 lakh immediately, with the remaining amount to be paid after the completion of the first phase of work.
“I recommend the following work to be taken up under my CDF 2026-27,” Malik wrote in the letter. “Repair of foot bridge at Premnagar over River Chenab, Pyt Jatheli, Block Gundna.”
The footbridge is a vital link for local residents, and its repair has been a long-standing demand in the area.
The letter, bearing D.O. No. MLA/Doda/9026/160, has been forwarded to the district administration for necessary action.
