Anantnag, Jammu & Kashmir: The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Anantnag has lauded the exceptional bravery of a local youth who risked his life to save an elderly woman from drowning in the turbulent waters of the River Jhelum. The young rescuer, Sehran Ashraf, was formally felicitated for his swift and courageous actions.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that Sehran Ashraf, son of Mohd Ashraf Hakeem, residing in Bangidar Anantnag, demonstrated remarkable presence of mind and courage when he witnessed an elderly woman plunging into the River Jhelum. The woman, it is believed, had jumped into the river in an apparent suicide attempt. Without hesitation, Sehran plunged into the fast-flowing river, battling the strong currents to reach the distressed woman and pull her to safety, thereby preventing a potential tragedy.
Recognizing the extraordinary nature of his deed, SSP Anantnag Amod Ashok Nagpure personally felicitated Sehran Ashraf. The SSP commended the young boy for his bravery, quick thinking, and profound humanitarian spirit. He emphasized that such acts of courage serve as an inspiration to the entire community and embody the values of compassion, responsibility, and selfless service which are crucial for societal well-being.
The Senior Superintendent of Police further praised Sehran’s heroism, expressing his hope that this noble act would encourage others to step forward and offer assistance to those in need.
