SRINAGAR: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch, Jammu and Kashmir, conducted searches at the office of the Deputy Chief Medical Officer (DCMO) in Shopian and his residence in Pulwama district on Saturday as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged fraudulent manipulation of service records.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the searches were part of a case registered concerning the alleged illegal insertion and alteration of date-of-birth entries in official service records, aimed at securing undue benefits. The operations were carried out under strict legal procedures and in the presence of independent witnesses.
Officials stated that during the searches, documents and other pertinent materials relevant to the investigation were seized and are currently undergoing scrutiny. The objective is to ascertain the full extent of the alleged irregularities and identify all individuals involved in the scheme. The EOW has emphasized that the investigation is active and further actions will be determined based on the evidence collected.
The EOW Kashmir has also issued an appeal to the public, urging them to remain vigilant against economic offenses. Citizens are encouraged to report any instances of fraud or suspicious activities to the Senior Superintendent of Police, EOW Kashmir. The wing also provides an official grievance mechanism for victims to lodge their complaints.
